Sinanju is Armed

Finished the arms (but still working on the shoulders) and the waist. I feel like the gold trimming on these pieces aren't as clean as on the torso, so I might have to clean it up more later. I don't quite understand how the arms open up to reveal the beam saber, the black part sort of gets in the way (hopefully not too much that it rubs gold paint off). Apart from that, the arms are really nice. They feel sturdy and the joints are good. The Gundam 2.0 hands are nice as always (with moving individual fingers).

Bunch of WIP photos. Painted the tube things on the arms gunmetal.

Closer photo of the waist section. As you can see, I painted the thrusters silver. Hope it looks okay in the end, it clashes a little with the gold.

Leaving for the weekend, so I'll have to hold off on completing the shoulders. Legs will take a while I bet, so Sinanju will probably remain in Zeong status for a little bit. I'm also planning on creating a "My Tools" page in the future, just because.

  2. Yeah, me too. Shoulders are almost done, wish I could just finish them up!

All it needs to complete the Zeong look is some weird antennae hair and a mouth that shoots lasers... jeez that MS was so strange.

  3. Sinanju is shiny, should be gloss in topcoating, I guess.
    Do you use topcoat later?

  4. Yeah, I use it after I apply decals to seal them in. This plastic isn't any more shiny then normal kits, so I'll probably use the normal matte finish.

  5. gotta ask... what's the secret to your all-so-awesomely smooth gold trims?

  6. Haha, umm, don't know what to say! I suppose I just take a long time with a small brush.

I swear that your Sinanj'u gold trim is just as neat and smooth, they look pretty similar to me!

  7. The gold looked subdued when compared to the silver. Perhaps, you could color it bronze instead or weather the thrusters with a bit of black(to mimic soot) to make it less noticeable

  8. Yeah I know what you mean. I was thinking about doing a wash with black, although I'm not too sure about how it would turn out (or really how to do it). I suppose I would just dilute black paint with thinner and hope it collects in panel lines on the verniers. I'll try it out
